Our team was founded in 2013 and first competed in Aerial Assist, advancing all the way to the World Championship by winning the Rookie All-Star award in addition to the Rookie High Seed award. Our second year was spent redesigning our team, after inducting new mentors into our program. We began to understand the true meaning of team work, and working as a cohesive unit when it came to building robots. Team 5002 became closer than ever before in 2016, as we were given a large workspace where everyone could work together. Our fourth year, we completely re-designed our team and its operations. With a lot of hard work, we had a successful build season and a fully functioning robot to take to both of our regional competitions. We were also fortunate enough to have received an invite to FRC Worlds in Houston, Texas. Our fifth year was about completely re-designing the structure of our team. With the help of our mentors, we were able to break down our entire year into 3 parts: Pre-Season, Build Season, and Competition Season. As we are nearing kick-off, we are preparing ourselves to be the best we can be and succeed at the 2018 FIRST Robotics game: First Power Up
VEX teams at Collierville High started in our 2015-16 school year. Led by a STEM teacher, 4 teams of passionate high schoolers were able to begin constructing VEX robots, with a competition shortly after in January. In January of 2016, 3 teams were sent to VEX state in Nashville, Tennessee, where 1 team qualified for VEX Worlds. After such a successful season, our STEM program was able to offer more high school students the opportunity to strive for greatness. Many teams were created, and 4 were sent to VEX state in Brentwood, Tennessee. While none of the teams qualified for Worlds, Team 3631A was able to compete in the Semi-finals, and won the Sportsmanship Award. This season, many changes are underway already. We have 6 VEX teams, composed of 4-5 students each. With our first competition in early November, our new mentors have made significant changes to the teams in effort to make it to VEX Worlds 2018.
